Why we no longer sell LGT / Nexus Sabers
As of today. The Saber Workshop will be removing all LGT and Nexus Products from our website. Please see our statement regarding this below....
Hello,
I am J owner of The Saber Workshop. I got into this business after being ripped off by another saber vendor. I wanted to being sabers to the public at a more affordable prices without reducing quality. When I got into re-selling sabers, the first company I contacted was Nexus / LGT. I was sent a catalog and told the prices of the sabers so I started selling them. My representative at LGT / Nexus shipped the products to the customers and I thought everything was fine.
3 months into being in business and having the lowest prices on the market I received a DM on Facebook from who I assume at this point (because I dont trust anything they say anymore) Pat Gibbons from LGT / Nexus Saber. I was told my pricing was too low and if I wanted to remain a vendor I would have to raise my prices. Too many other vendors in the space were complaining to Nexus / LGT that they were losing business due to my pricing. So Pat reached out and gave me the story of how all the vendors try and work together, how all vendors stay within the same pricing structure to keep the market from collapsing.
So I agreed to raise my prices....
After raising my prices LGT / Nexus sent me a contract (4 months later) No where in this contract does it state I have to have a particular price on my sabers. So I contacted Pat again and explained this. He stated they don't do MSRP's.... It was at that point I just left it alone because I was still more affordable than 90% of the other shops and I offered a better warranty.
Within a month of this happening LGT / Nexus released the Qimir lightsaber. I sold a bunch of them as again we had the lowest prices. But about a month after release LGT / Nexus found a flaw with the construction of the saber and re-designed it. Because of this re-design the new cores they make for the Oimir lightsaber do not fit the old version of the hilt.
For the last month I have been going back and forth with LGT / Nexus about a core that broke on a customer. This started back in October, it is December and the last communication from LGT / Nexus was to ask the customer to modify the new core they were sent so it fits the old one. Really? You want a customer to modify their own saber after YOU screwed it up? UNACCEPTABLE!! We are still waiting for a response from LGT / Nexus on this. The customer has been more than patient at this point, and I am getting increasingly frustrated with the way LGT / Nexus does business.
Now to move on to the current issue.....
2 weeks ago I was sent a new product and told it was ready to be sold to customers. The new Six Sided LED Blades from LGT / Nexus. So I put them up on the website for sale, and did some Facebook promotion. The moment promotion started I started getting comments on the post about how the product didnt have the specifications given to me by LGT / Nexus, and that the product was not released yet which is why no other vendors were carrying them yet. This led me to contact Pat and ask what was going on.
Well as it turns out they product may not work as intended, and that other Vendors brought their concerns to LGT / Nexus and management went and released the blades anyway without telling anyone there may be an issue. So I contacted Pat and was told once again. You can sell them, but they haven't really been tested. Wait what??? You gave me a product to sell and it wasn't tested?? You didn't test the claims you made about them??? Yet you still allowed my rep to tell me they were OK to sell? Pat HIMSELF told me they were OK to sell even if they "still needed testing".....
This leads me to the actual problem. It seems by releasing these to the public its caused quite a stir in the online lightsaber community. Because of this stir my name and my companies name is being dragged through the mud. For about a week Pat and the guys from Dark Wolf Sabers have been telling people asking questions about these blades that "a vendor released them early" "a vendor released them before they were ready" and "a vendor sold them and they weren't supposed to" ..... Now because of this me and my company The Saber Workshop have been removed from all the major Facebook groups about lightsabers, and its affecting my business.
Because of this we are temporarily removing ALL LGT / Nexus products from our website. We can not in good faith continue to sell products that are constantly flawed, misrepresented, and inferior to other options out there.
To those of you that have purchased an LGT / Nexus Saber from The Saber Workshop. We will still continue to support you like always for 2 years from your date of purchase.
We may begin to carry these sabers again if they fix their business practices.
